Woman alleges doctor caused further harm during surgery

Medical malpractice 09

WHEELING – An Ohio couple alleges the wife was injured during a surgery.

Mariah Lunsford and Wesley Lunsford filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in Ohio Circuit Court against Peter Bala MD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in Feb. 29, 2016, plaintiff Mariah Lunsford has underwent a second operation with the defendant. She alleges that as a result of defendant's negligence, she suffered a perforated small bowel and has endured additional surgical procedures and medical expenses and extended hospitalization. The plaintiffs hold Bala responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise the degree of care, learning and skill expected of a reasonable and prudent health care provider.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant in an amount that will fairly and reasonably compensate them, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief. They are represented by Geoffrey C. Brown of Bordas & Bordas PLLC in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James P. Mazzone.
