CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County woman is suing the Charleston Area Medical Center, alleging disability discrimination and sexual harassment.

Kathy Conrad filed a complaint Dec. 5 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. alleging violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Conrad, who began working for the defendant in 1991, was subjected to severe and pervasive unwelcome remarks and physical touching by her supervisor. She was terminated from her employment May 12, 2016.

As a result, Conrad has suffered lost wages and benefits, mental anguish and humiliation. The plaintiff alleges the defendant retaliated against Conrad and terminated her employment for engaging in a protected activity of reporting sexual harassment.

The plaintiff seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages in an amount to be determined at trial, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Amy C. Crossan of Bouchillon, Crossan & Colburn LC in Huntington.
