Daughter blames Huntington health care providers for father's injuries

Medical malpractice 01

HUNTINGTON — An Illinois woman is suing Huntington health care providers, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to her father.

Cheryl Church of Rockford, Illinois, as power of attorney for Daniel J. Carper Sr., filed a complaint Dec. 8 in Cabell Circuit Court against Seventeenth Street Associates LLC doing business as Huntington Health & Rehabilitation Center, Savaseniorcare Administrative Services Savaseniorcare Consulting LLC and administrator Annica Stansberry, alleging failure to provide health care services in compliance with the state law.

According to the complaint, between Dec. 11-25, 2015, Carper was a resident at the defendants' nursing facility Huntington Health & Rehabilitation Center. During his residency, the suit says, he suffered deterioration and development of pressure-related skin injuries resulting in needless pain and suffering.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide an environment free of accident hazards and failed to properly train and supervise their employees.

Church seeks trial by jury, compensation for all damages allowed by law, attorney fees, costs of court and all other equitable relief. She is represented by attorneys Andrew L. Paternostro, Jeff D. Stewart and Shayla M. Rigsby of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
