Two female workers accuse restaurant, supervisor of hostile environment

Wrongful term 12

CHARLESTON — Two Kanawha County women are suing a Charleston restaurant and supervisor, alleging a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and constructive discharge.

Karen Cooper-Brewer and Tonya Cassell filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Texas S&S Restaurant LLC, doing business as Texas Steakhouse & Saloon, and John Price, alleging they violated the provisions of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, Price's actions caused both women to suffer health problems that required medical treatment and was so intolerable that the plaintiffs resigned their positions in summer 2016.

The plaintiffs allege Price repeatedly subjected them to improper and inappropriate sexual harassment and Texas S&S failed to enforce policies or take corrective actions to stop sexual harassment and retaliated against the plaintiffs for reporting illegal workplace activity.

Cooper-Brewer and Cassell seek trial by jury, compensatory, liquidated and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees and court costs and all other fair and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Hoyt Glazer of Law Office of Hoyt Glazer PLLC in Huntington.
