Law money 06

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayette County man is suing a debt collector, alleging unfair and unconscionable collection practices.

Reginald Dodd filed a complaint Jan. 10 in Fayette Circuit Court against Credit Control Services Inc., alleging the debt collector violated the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

According to the complaint, as a result of defendant's unlawful acts, Dodd was caused to suffer embarrassment, annoyance, inconvenience and worry regarding an alleged debt of $660 to AT&T. The plaintiff alleges Credit Control attempted to collect a debt that he does not owe and falsely said that he was indebted to AT&T.

Dodd seeks trial by jury, actual, statutory and punitive damages, attorney fees and costs of court. He is represented by attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard PLLC in Fayetteville.
