LOGAN — The county board of education is suing a geotechnical engineering firm, alleging professional negligence.

The board filed a complaint Jan. 12 in Logan Circuit Court against Triad Engineering Inc. alleging failure to provide adequate geotechnical exploration services.

According to the complaint, on May 15, 2015, the board of education contracted the defendant for the geotechnical exploration services and foundation design for Holden Elementary School in Logan County. As a result of Triad's actions, the suit says, the board has been forced to incur additional construction costs.

The plaintiff alleges Triad Engineering failed to properly investigate the subsurface of the construction site and failed to make a proper foundation design for the plaintiff's project.

The Logan Board of Education seeks trial by jury, judgment to be determined at trial, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and expenses and all other proper relief. It is represented by attorneys Marc A. Monteleone and Kenneth E. Webb Jr. of Bowles Rice LLP in Charleston.
