WHEELING — A McDowell County man is suing Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Jeremy W. Evans, citing alleged identity theft, felony and forgery.
Gary Treadway filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Ohio Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they violated the Consumer Credit Protection Act and the Computer Crime and Abuse Act.
According to the complaint, Treadway alleges that as a result of defendants' conduct, he has incurred significant state and federal penalties and interest and has suffered annoyance, emotional distress and other damages. He holds Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Jeremy W. Evans, who has locations in Welch and Kimball, responsible because they allegedly failed to maintain appropriate safeguards to protect his personal and confidential information, wrongfully falsified information and filed his 2014 tax return forging his signature.
Treadway requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all damages, penalties and interest; litigation costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Jason E.
