Doctor canceled employment contract early, IT worker claims

Contract 05

HINTON — A Mercer County man is suing a physician, citing alleged breach of employment contract.

Jeremy R. Ball filed a complaint Jan. 17 in Raleigh Circuit Court against S.K. Shammaa MD Inc. alleging the employer failed to fulfill its contractual obligations.

According to the complaint, Ball sayshe entered into a written employment contract with defendant on Jan. 2, 2016, for a period of five years. After providing information technology services to defendant until Dec. 7, he was laid off on Dec. 8, which caused him to lose all money due to be paid to him until Dec. 31, 2020. He holds S.K. Shammaa MD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to continue his gainful employment.

Ball requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all sums due and owing, attorney's fees and costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Debra Kilgore of Burton Kilgore & Baldwin PLLC in Princeton.
