Registered nurse blames ambulance operators for injuries

Car accident 05

MOUNDSVILLE — A Marshall County registered nurse is suing Wheeling ambulance operators, alleging their negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Jennifer A. Rothwell filed a complaint Jan. 23 in Marshall Circuit Court against Tri-State Ambulance Inc. and Crystal C. Brown, alleging Brown failed to maintain proper control of the ambulance.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2016, Brown was acting within the scope of her employment with Tri-State and was operating an ambulance wherein Rothwell was a passenger on Interstate Highway 70 in Guernsey County, Ohio. Due to severe weather conditions, the suit says, Brown caused the ambulance to slide, hit an object and roll several times.

The lawsuit states Rothwell sustained serious and permanent injuries resulting in substantial medical expenses, great pain and suffering. The plaintiff alleges Brown failed to decline to drive the ambulance in severe weather condition and then traveled too fast for the conditions.

Rothwell seeks trial by jury, compensatory, punitive and special damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Donald J. Tennant Jr. of Tennant Law Offices in Wheeling, and by Robert G. McCoid of McCamic, Sacco & McCoid PLLC in Wheeling.
