NEW MARTINSVILLE — A Wetzel County couple is suing coal mining companies, alleging making a nuisance.

Matthew and Nina Watson filed a complaint Feb. 23 in Wetzel Circuit Court against Consol Energy Inc and CNX Land LLC, alleging they breached their duty to protect neighboring properties.

According to the complaint, as a proximate result of the defendants' negligence, the Watsons have suffered losses and damages to their property near Burton. The plaintiffs allege the defendants unreasonably allowed water to be cast on the plaintiffs' property.

The Watsons seek trial by jury, judgment in an amount sufficient to compensate their losses and damages, attorney fees, costs of court and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorneys Daniel C. Cooper and Jamison H. Cooper of Cooper Law Offices PLLC in Bridgeport.
