Braxton County prosecutor resigns

SUTTON – The Braxton County prosecutor, Kelly Hamon McLaughlin, has resigned from office.

A special meeting was held Thursday with the Braxton County Commission, where McLaughlin’s resignation letter was read.

McLaughlin stated in her letter that her resignation was effective Wednesday.

Assistant Prosecutor William McCourt was appointed to take over McLaughlin’s position for the next 30 days. The commission will put out an advertisement for a new prosecutor.

McLaughlin also appeared before the West Virginia Office of Disciplinary Counsel on Thursday.
