Family blames health care providers for resident's death

Medical malpractice 09

CHARLESTON — A Cowen resident is suing health care providers, alleging their negligence caused the death of a resident.

Gene Angus, executor of the estate of Bethel Angus, filed a complaint March 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Webster Nursing & Rehabilitation Center LLC and AMFM LLC, alleging they negligently deviated from the applicable standards of medical care.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 14, 2015, Bethel Angus sustained serious injuries while she was a resident at Webster Center. As a result, she suffered physical and mental pain, emotional distress, medical expenses and eventually death.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to implement appropriate procedures to prevent Bethel Angus from falling from a lift and failed to assess and report her injuries, which included leg fractures.

Gene Angus seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, interest and costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney Charles M. Love IV of The Love Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
