BLUEFIELD — An African-American woman is suing a TV dish business, alleging race and sex discrimination.

Ethelomia Renee Perkins filed a complaint March 27 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia against Dish Network LLC, alleging violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, beginning in 2013 and continuing until her termination Jan. 7, 2016, Perkins applied for various positions at Dish Network for which she was rejected. The suit says she was caused to suffer the loss of substantial monetary amounts.

The plaintiff alleges Dish Network subjected her to racial and sexual harassment, a hostile working environment and wrongful termination.

Perkins seeks trial by jury, monetary relief of more than $200,000, attorney fees and court costs and all other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Hilary K. Johnson of Abingdon, Va.
