Widow blames multiple companies for husband's wrongful death

MOUNDSVILLE — A Paden City widow is suing multiple companies, alleging their negligence led to her husband's death.

E. Jane Price, individually and as executor of the estate of Robert G. Price, filed a complaint April 24 in Marshall Circuit Court against Sistersville Tank Works Inc., Shell Chemical LP, Tauber Oil Company, Valero Refining-Texas LP, et al, alleging they failed to create a safety plan on how to properly contain toxic chemicals.

According to the complaint, due to Robert Price's exposure to toxic chemicals, including benzene and formaldehyde, he developed acute myeloid leukemia, which eventually contributed to his death June 6, 2015. The suit says he was force to spend more than $270,000 in medical expenses. Jane Price says she has suffered loss of service and companionship of her husband.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to ensure that their safety plan were being followed and failed to provide adequate warnings regarding the use and exposure to toxic chemicals.

Price seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, and all other just and fair relief. She is represented by attorneys R. Dean Hartley and David B. Lunsford of Hartley Group PLLC in Wheeling.
