Employee blames railroad company for back injuries

PINEVILLE — An employee is suing a railroad company, alleging its negligence led to him being injured.

Ernest M. Hall, Jr. of Wyoming County filed a complaint April 24 in Wyoming Circuit Court against Norfolk Southern Railway Company, alleging failure to provide a reasonably safe working environment for the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on May 5, 2015, Hall suffered serious physical injuries to his back, due to a defective rail car handbrake. The suit says the back injury required surgery.

The plaintiff alleges Norfolk Southern Railway failed to make sure that the handbrake was in perfect working condition.

Hall seeks trial by jury, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorneys Bert Ketchum of Greene, Ketchum, Farrell, Bailey & Tweel, LLP in Huntington, and by John D. Steel and John A. Moss of Steel & Moss LLP in Atlanta.
