Former inmate alleges medical facility caused leg amputation

Medical malpractice 01

HUNTINGTON — A Cabell County man is suing a medical care facility, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff undergoing an amputation.

Brian Ramsburg filed a complaint April 26 in Cabell Circuit Court against Primecare Medical of West Virginia Inc., alleging failure to provide the industry standard of care and treatment to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, as a result of the defendant's negligence, Ramsburg had his leg and foot amputated below the knee Jan. 24, 2015. The plaintiff alleges Primecare Medical failed to properly screen Ramsburg's condition while he was an inmate at a regional jail and failed to take his complaint seriously and to provide timely and necessary medical care and treatment.

Ramsburg seeks trial by jury, damages that will fully compensate the plaintiff for his pain and suffering, plus economic damages. He is represented by attorneys Connor Robertson of Weston Robertson in Huntington and by David A, Sims of Law Offices of David A, Sims PLLC in Vienna.
