HUNTINGTON — A Cabell County man is suing Huntington police officers, alleging assault, battery and negligence in a dog attack.
William Robinson filed a complaint May 5 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia Huntington Division against the city of Huntington, doing business as the Huntington Police Department, and Ronnie Lusk, alleging violation of the Fourth and 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 5, 2015, Robinson suffered severe lacerations to his left leg when a K-9 dog attacked him after Robinson was stopped for a traffic violation. Robinson says he has suffered pain and suffering and permanent scarring.
The plaintiff alleges Lusk let the dog continue to bite and chew Robinson's leg and failed to provide timely medical care.
Robinson seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees and costs and all other relief the court deems just and fair. He is represented by attorneys Richard W. Weston, Connor Robertson and A. Courtenay Craig of Weston Robertson in Huntington.
