Couple sues companies for allegedly retaining costs on royalty checks

Contract 04

WHEELING — A couple is suing SWN Production Company and Statoil USA Onshore Properties Inc., for alleged breach of contract.

Travis Young and Michelle Bee Young filed a complaint in Ohio Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants deducted post-production costs from the plaintiffs' royalty checks.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages and hold the defendants responsible for allegedly deducting post-production costs from the plaintiffs' royalty checks without permission. The plaintiffs had entered into a contract with the defendants for oil and gas rights on their property. The couple argues that retaining the costs violated the contract.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek interest, all legal fees, general relief and any other relief this court deems just. They are represented by James G. Bordas and Jeremy M. McGraw of Bordas & Bordas PLLC in Wheeling.
