Parents blame vehicle owner, driver for crash

Car accident 20

GLENVILLE — Gilmer County parents are suing a vehicle owner and driver, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiffs' family members.

Jessica Jenkins, individually and as parent of Grace Jenkins, and Heaven Sirbaugh, individually and as parent of Charlie Sirbaugh, filed a complaint May 11 in Gilmer Circuit Court against Jeffrey Michael Cottrill and EQT Corporation, alleging Cottrill failed to maintain proper control of the truck he was driving.

According to the complaint, on May 13, 2015, the plaintiffs sustained injuries when an EQT truck driven by Cottrill violently struck the vehicle behind the plaintiffs vehicle, propelling it into the plaintiffs' vehicle on state Route 5 near Glenville.

The plaintiffs say they sustained personal injuries resulting in lost wages, medical expenses and physical and emotional pain. The plaintiffs allege Cottrill failed to timely stop his truck vehicle and avoid the collision.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, judgment against the defendants, jointly and severally, for damages sustained by the plaintiffs, plus interest and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorneys Kevin S. Kaufman and Sara E. Zeigler of Kaufman & McPherson PLLC in Bridgeport.
