WHEELING — A Wheeling couple is suing a local grocery store, alleging negligence led to injuries for the wife.

Beth E. McCombs and Thomas E. McComb filed a complaint May 19 in Ohio Circuit Court against Riesbeck Food Markets, alleging failure to maintain the surrounding premises safe for customers.

According to the complaint, on April 3, 2016, Beth McCombs was exiting the Riesbeck's grocery store in Wheeling when she slipped and fell on the ice-covered walkway. The suit says McComb sustained serious injuries to her left wrist, hand and forearm and Thomas McCombs suffered loss of comfort, service and consortium of his wife.

The plaintiffs allege Riesbeck Food Markets failed to maintain the area free from ice and snow and failed to provide adequate warning that the area was slippery.

The McCombs seek trial by jury, judgment in an amount to be determined by jury, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and such all equitable and appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney Gregory A. Gellner of Gellner Law Offices in Wheeling.
