Patient alleges health providers' negligence caused psychological injuries

HUNTINGTON — A Marion County man is suing Cabell County mental health provides, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering psychological problems.

Brian S. Skeens filed a complaint on May 26, in Cabell Circuit Court against Dr. Stephen D. Durrenberger and Starlight Behavioral Health Services Inc., alleging they failed to provide proper medical care to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, Skeens suffered psychological injuries because Durrenberger interfered in the plaintiff's romantic relationship and ended up marrying the woman Skeens was dating. The suit says the defendants used Skeens' confidential information to inflict emotional damages to the plaintiff.

Skeens seeks trial by jury, damages, all legal fees and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Christopher D. Pence and Charles F. Bellomy of Hardy Pence PLLC in Charleston.
