POINT PLEASANT — A Monroe County family is suing a camp owner, alleging negligence caused injuries to the son.
Tracy and Leslie Ferguson, individually and on behalf of their minor son, Blaize Ferguson, filed a complaint May 25 in Mason Circuit Court against Ohio-West Virginia Youth Leadership Association, the Camp Horseshoe owner failed to ensure Blaize Ferguson's safety.
According to the complaint, on June 12, 2015, Blaize Ferguson was severely injured when he fell at Camp Horseshoe in Tucker County when the rock he was climbing gave way and fell on top of him, trapping him between the rock and the water.
The suit says Ferguson sustained numerous cuts and abrasions to his body and other permanent injuries. The plaintiffs allege the defendant failed to examine the rock outcropping prior to instructing campers to climb on the rock.
The Fergusons seek trial by jury, damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs, expenses and all other appropriate relief.
