Physicians Services USA accused of breaching a billing services agreement

FAYETTEVILLE — A medical provider is suing Physicians Services USA LLC, a billing services provider, citing alleged breach of a billing services agreement.

Scott Keffer Inc. d/b/a Mountain Medical Associates filed a complaint on June 2 in the Fayette County Circuit Court, alleging that the billing services provider breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, Mountain Medical Associates alleges that it suffered significant damage to its business reputation for the slow process of Medicare reimbursements. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because for allegedly mishandling and miscoding its Medicare billings and terminated the contract without the required notice of termination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, attorney's fees, costs for this action and such other legal and equitable relief. He is represented by James B. Gatehouse of Rayburn Cooper & Durham PA in Charlotte, N.C.
