NEW CUMBERLAND — A Hancock County bus driver a bus service company, alleging unpaid wages and wrongful termination.
Terryn Risk filed a complaint June 19 in Hancock Circuit Court against Weirton Transit Corporation, alleging violation of West Virginia Public Policy and the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act.
According to the complaint, Risk, who had worked for Weirton Transit since December 2015, was financially damaged for not receiving wages for pre-trips duties and for end-of-route duties and for being terminated Feb. 8. He says he has suffered lost wages, mental distress and humiliation.
The plaintiff alleges Weirton Transit failed to pay him for all time worked (between 2-7 p.m.), retaliated against Risk and terminated his employment Feb. 8 for complaining about unpaid wages.
Risk seeks trial by jury, unpaid wages, attorney fees, costs as well as other losses and damages. He is represented by attorneys Frank H. Duff and Sandra K. Law of Schrader Byrd & Companion PLLC in Wheeling.
