PRINCETON — A Mercer County man is suing a Princeton doctor, alleging his negligence left a staple in the plaintiff's body.

Carmen A. "Tony" Papa filed a complaint June 26 in Mercer Circuit Court against Dr. Gene B. Duremdes, alleging the physician was negligent in providing medical assistance.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff suffered serious physical injuries including severe pain because Duremdes failed to recognize that he had stapled the plaintiff's cystic duct during surgery Oct. 28, 2015.

Papa seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Robert P. Welsh of The Masters Law Firm LC in Charleston.
