Couple accuses Nationwide of financial improprieties

POINT PLEASANT — A policy holder and and his wife are suing Nationwide Insurance, alleging breach of duties and contract obligations.

William A. McCourt and Sally McCourt filed a complaint June 21 in Mason Circuit Court against Nationwide Annuity Life Insurance Company, Nationwide Insurance Company, John Parrack, et al, alleging violation of the West Virginia Unfair Trade Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the the McCourts suffered economic loss and other economic benefits that they would otherwise have enjoyed, anxiety, loss of sleep and emotional and personal injury because the defendants wrongfully assured plaintiffs of a 7 percent return would be realized and failed to place the plaintiffs' annuities in a suitable investment.

The McCourts seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, reimbursement of all costs and expenses and all just and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Henry E. Wood III of Wood Law Office LC in Summersville.
