CHARLESTON – A female inmate alleges that she was subjected to harassment by a correctional officer.
Dawn Martin filed a complaint on July 3 in the Kanawha Circuit Court against C.O. Price, the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority and John Doe alleging violation of the 14th Amendment.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was sexually harassed, abused and exploited by Price while she was an inmate at the Southern Regional Jail.
The plaintiff holds C.O. Price, the West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority, and John Doe responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a reasonably safe confinement facility.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, compensatory and punitive damages, court costs, attorney fees, and further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Woelfel & Woelfel in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
