Huntington police officer files suit over alleged injuries sustained when cruiser was hit by driver

Car accident 34

HUNTINGTON – An officer with the Huntington Police Department alleges she was injured on duty when the cruiser she was in was struck by another driver.

Kimberly Rohrig filed a complaint on July 7 in Cabell Circuit Court against Christina Lawhon, West Virginia Paving Inc. and John Doe alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 10, 2015, she was working special duty traffic detail on Interstate 64 and was a passenger in a stopped police cruiser. The suit states that Lawhon drove her vehicle through an area where paving was being done by West Virginia Paving Inc. and struck the rear of the cruiser.

The plaintiff holds Lawhon, West Virginia Paving Inc. and John Doe responsible because defendant Lawhon allegedly failed to maintain control of her vehicle and caused it to collide with the police cruiser in which plaintiff was a passenger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, for all damages, plus interest, costs and all further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Matthew J. Woelfel of Woelfel & Woelfel LLP in Huntington. The case has been assigned by Circuit Judge Chris Chiles.
