Woman files suit against driver, Shine Pub after single-vehicle accident

Car accident 30

WHEELING – A woman alleges she was injured in a single-vehicle accident because the driver was reportedly intoxicated.

Chelsa L. Miller filed a complaint July 14 in Ohio Circuit Court against Nathan Patrick McCarthy and Shine Pub LLC citing underinsurance claim and negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 4, 2016, Miller was a passenger in a van owned by Shine Pub and operated by McCarthy, who was allegedly intoxicated, on Oglebay Drive. The suit states McCarthy failed to maintain the vehicle and caused it to crash into a pole, trees and shrubbery. The suit also states McCarthy was operating the vehicle without a valid license.

The plaintiff holds McCarthy and Shine Pub LLC responsible because Shrine Pub allegedly negligently served McCarthy alcohol and selected him to drive the van.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive, special and general damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Donald J. Tennant Jr. of Tennant Law Offices in Wheeling.
