Woman alleges injuries after rear-end collision with coal truck in Marmet

CHARLESTON – A Belle motorist is seeking damages after a rear-ended collision involving a Wharton driver.

Cassandra Hamm filed a complaint July 19 in Kanawha Circuit Court against James Roop and H&E Trucking Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in Jan. 3, she was stopped at a red light at the intersection of MacCorkle and Lens Creek Road in Marmet when Roop, operating a large coal truck owned by H&E Trucking, rear-ended the plaintiff. The plaintiff alleges she sustained property and personal injuries. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, all legal fees, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Charles M. Johnstone II of Johnstone & Gabhart LLP in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
