Estep & Shaffer claims client failed to pay for services

Contract 05

KINGWOOD – A law firm alleges that a Preston County man failed to pay it for its services.

Estep & Shaffer LC filed a complaint Aug. 7 in Preston Circuit Court against Jack A. Ringer alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the defendant hired the plaintiff's firm to represent him in a legal matter. The suit states their contract stated the defendant agreed to an hourly fee of $450 if the defendant's appeal was successful. The plaintiff alleges it provided more than 40 hours of work.

The plaintiff holds Ringer responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay the plaintiff based on their representation and fee agreement.

The plaintiff seeks damages, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by C. Paul Estep of Estep & Shaffer LC in Kingwood. The case has been assigned to Lawrance S. Miller Jr.
