CAMC named in suit by visitor who fell on premises

CHARLESTON – A visitor to the Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. alleges she was caused to fall by a slippery floor.

Wanda Crichfield filed a complaint Aug. 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 3, she was seriously and permanently injured when she slipped and fell on a slippery surface at defendant's premises. She alleges she sustained serious multiple bodily injuries resulting in pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, humiliation, embarrassment and loss of enjoyment of life. 

The plaintiff holds Charleston Area Medical Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed a dangerous condition to develop and failed to provide warning of the existence of such condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $75,000, interest, costs and such other just and lawful relief. She is represented by Robert B. Warner and Christopher Schumacher of Warner Law Offices PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
