Motorist seeks coverage from State Farm Mutual Automobile

Insurance 06

CHARLESTON – A Saint Albans woman is seeking underinsured motorist coverage from an insurer after a collision in Saint Albans.

Lois Ann Taylor filed a complaint Aug. 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. alleging negligence and/or reckless conduct.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 19, 2015, she sustained injuries and damages due to a vehicle accident negligently caused by an underinsured motorist. She alleges the vehicle she was driving had $100,000 of underinsured coverage through State Farm, but the attempts to settle the underinsured claim have been unsuccessful.

The plaintiff holds State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to fairly and reasonably negotiate plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees and expenses and such other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Robert D. Cline Jr., Robert A. Campbell and Letisha R. Bika of Farmer, Cline & Campbell PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
