Man files suit against Wheeling Hospital, doctor alleging surgery injured wrist

Medical malpractice 06

WHEELING – A Belmont County, Ohio, couple alleges the husband was injured because of a screw used in a surgery.

Mark A. Sneddon and Kerry A. Sneddon filed a complaint Sept. 8 in Ohio Circuit Court against Wheeling Hospital Inc. and Allan H. Tissenbaum, M.D. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Mark A. Sneddon underwent wrist surgery in June 2015 as performed by the defendants. The suit states Tissenbaum improperly located one of the screws and that a second surgery had to be performed in October 2015 to remove a plate and screws, and a third surgery was performed in January 2016 to remove part of the ulnar head that was damaged by the screw.

The plaintiffs hold Wheeling Hospital Inc. and Tissenbaum responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to recognize the improper placement of the screw.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount to be determined by a jury, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Jonathan E. Turak of Gold, Khourey & Turak LC in Moundsville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Ronald E. Wilson.
