Huntington Applebee's customer alleges slippery floor caused fall

Slip01

HUNTINGTON – A Huntington woman claims she was injured at a restaurant in the city because of a substance on the floor.

Feon Smith filed a complaint Aug. 30 in Cabell Circuit Court against Neighborhood Hospitality Inc., doing business as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in Sept. 30, 2015, she slipped and fell when she stepped on a greasy, slippery substance on the floor and was injured.

The plaintiff holds Neighborhood Hospitality Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly maintain the premises in a safe condition.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in a sum to be determined by a jury plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Dwight J. Staples of Henderson, Henderson & Staples LC in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Alfred E. Ferguson.
