East River Volunteer Fire Department firefighter alleges injuries after being struck by motorist

PRINCETON – A Princeton man and member of the East River Volunteer Fire Department is seeking damages after he was struck by a motorist while directing traffic.

Aaron D. Beeman filed a complaint Sept. 14 in Mercer Circuit Court against Jeffrey A. Lanford alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 18, 2015, he was doing his duties as a volunteer firefighter directing traffic at the intersection of Eades Mill Road and Keaton Lane when he was hit by a vehicle driven by the defendant, knocking him into another vehicle. The suit states the defendant left the scene without rendering aid.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Robert D. Cline and Brian E. Bigelow of Farmer, Cline & Campbell PLLC in Beckley. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Mark Wills.
