Lowe's customer seeks damages after slipping on grainy substance in store

Slip01

WHEELING – A Belmont County, Ohio, man alleges he was injured at a Lowe's store in Wheeling after slipping on a sand-like substance.

Robert Williams Sr. filed a complaint Sept. 14 in Ohio Circuit Court against Lowe's Home Centers LLC, John Doe corporations and John Doe tortfeasors alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 18, 2015, he was shopping at the defendant's store when he slipped and fell after stepping on what appeared to be sand on the floor. He alleges his head struck the floor, causing him to lose consciousness.

The plaintiff holds Lowe's Home Centers LLC, John Doe corporations and John Doe tortfeasors responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn customers of the hidden dangers known to the store owners.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and general damages, interest, court costs, and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Amy Pigg Shafer of Shafer Law Offices in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jason A. Cuomo.
