New Beginnings Contracting alleged to have used defective materials for deck

BECKLEY – A Daniels man alleges that a deck he had installed was constructed using defective materials.

Thomas Milam filed a complaint Sept. 27 in Raleigh Circuit Court against New Beginnings Contracting and Property Development alleging breach of contract and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2016, he contracted the defendant to build a deck at his property for $36,500. He alleges the defendant used defective materials and that the deck boards shrank or were not correctly installed.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, demotion and cleanup, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Anthony M. Salvatore of Hewitt & Salvatore PLLC in Fayetteville. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Robert A. Burnside Jr.
