MORGANTOWN – A Bridgeport man alleges he needed revision surgery to his knee after the first procedure was not properly performed.
Micheal Troch filed a complaint Oct. 8 in Monongalia Circuit Court against Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates Inc. and Lloyd Kurth alleging professional medical negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 23, 2015, he presented to the defendants for a right total knee replacement. After numerous therapies and a realignment procedure, the suit states his complaints of swelling, pain and subluxation to his right knee were not remedied.
On Aug. 16, 2016, the suit states he presented to West Virginia University Medicine for a second opinion. The suit states that it was determined that the plaintiff's knee components were internally rotated with a moderate-sized knee-joint effusion. He underwent revision surgery in October 2016, the suit states.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed through instrumentation and implantation to properly align the right knee during the total knee arthroplasty prior to the end of surgery and failed to perform a revision to the right knee when needed and instead performed a right quadricep realignment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount that is fair and equitable to compensate for injuries and damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other relief as the court deems just and proper.
