Former district manager for Huntington Bancshares alleges wrongful termination

WAYNE – An Ohio woman formerly employed by a banking corporation alleges she was wrongfully terminated.

Tonya Leighty filed a complaint Oct. 16 in Wayne Circuit Court against Huntington Bancshares Inc. alleging that the banking corporation violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired as the branch manager of the defendant's Lavalette branch in February 2010 and promoted to district manager in October 2016. She alleges that despite exceeding yearly performance evaluations and without receiving any disciplinary actions, she was terminated from her employment on Feb. 9. 

The plaintiff holds Huntington Bancshares Inc. responsible she was allegedly subjected to derogatory comments based on her gender and age, hostile and intimidating work environment, retaliation and termination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive and exemplary damages, costs of this action, attorney's fees and such other relief that are deemed appropriate. She is represented by John D. Hoover of Hoover Andrew PLLC in Barboursville.
