Motorist files suit against UPS Ground Freight, driver after I-70 crash

Semi crash 06

WHEELING – An Ohio woman is seeking damages after a collision with a UPS tractor-trailer in Wheeling.

Sarah E. Ringer filed a complaint Oct. 25 in Ohio Circuit Court against UPS Ground Freight Inc. and Derek Keith Anderson alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 26, 2015, she was traveling in her 2007 Chevrolet HHR on Interstate 70 East when defendant Anderson carelessly operated a 2007 Freightliner while in the course and scope of his employment with defendant UPS and struck plaintiff's vehicle.

As a result of the impact, she alleges she sustained serious injuries to her head, neck, back, shoulders and other parts of her body both internally and externally.

The plaintiff holds UPS Ground Freight Inc. and Anderson responsible because defendant Anderson allegedly failed to yield to the right of way, failed to maintain proper speed and failed to keep a careful lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, interest, costs and such other appropriate relief. She is represented by Jacob M. Robinson and Adam M. Hanasky of Robinson Law Offices in Wheeling. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jason A. Cuomo.
