LOGAN – A shopper at the Logan Walmart is seeking damages after falling in the store.

Coty Richards filed a complaint Nov. 3 in Logan Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 4, he was at the defendant's Walmart Supercenter store in Logan when he slipped and fell on a slippery substance on the floor and was injured.

The plaintiff holds Wal-Mart Stores East LP responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed the slippery substance to accumulate on the floor where patrons do their shopping.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for his injuries and damages, prejudgment interest, court costs and such other just and equitable relief. He is represented by Joshua S. Ferrell and Nathan D. Brown of Ferrell & Brown PLLC in Williamson. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Eric H. O'Briant.
