Man alleges he lost job with Ramaco Resources after ending relationship with vice president

LOGAN – A Logan County man alleges he lost his job after ending a relationship with an executive in the company.

Matthew Harvey filed a complaint Nov. 13 in Logan Circuit Court against Ramaco Resources LLC, Ramaco Resources Land Holdings LLC, Ramaco Development LLC, Ramaco Central Appalachia LLC and Sabrina Duba, citing the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendant for five months and was in a romantic relationship with Duba, the defendants' vice president. He alleges he was terminated Aug. 29 in retaliation for ending his relationship with Duba.

The plaintiff holds Ramaco Resources LLC, Ramaco Resources Land Holdings LLC, Ramaco Development LLC, Ramaco Central Appalachia LLC and Duba responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated him based on his sex and their actions constituted sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, lost benefits and wages, back pay, front pay, damages for indignity, punitive damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark A. Atkinson of Atkinson & Polak PLLC in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Eric H. O'Briant.
