Man seeks benefits from Farmers Insurance over accident injuries

Insurance 05

LOGAN – A Chapmanville man alleges his insurer has failed to honor his claim for underinsured motorist benefits.

Bobby Lee Mines filed a complaint Dec. 8 in Logan Circuit Court against Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co. of West Virginia and Brian Beckett alleging breach of contract and unfair claims practices and insurance regulations.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 11, 2016, he was injured in a motor vehicle accident with an uninsured/underinsured motorist. The suit states all claims were resolved with Beckett and his insurance policy and the plaintiff made a claim with Farmers for underinsured benefits provided by his policy.

The plaintiff holds Farmers and Mechanics Mutual Insurance Co. of West Virginia and Beckett responsible because Farmers allegedly failed to honor the plaintiff's claim for benefits.

The plaintiff seeks an order requiring Farmers to provide the benefits due under the policy, award for all damages, attorney's fees, costs and interest. He is represented by Steven S. Wolfe of Wolfe White & Associates in Logan. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joshua Butcher.
