Patient allege he needed surgeries after treatment at Cabell Huntington Hospital

HUNTINGTON – A Milton man alleges he was injured during his stay at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Richard Johnson filed a complaint Nov. 21 in Cabell Circuit Court against Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff went to the defendant hospital in September 2015 with complaints of chest pain and shortness of breath. Because he had a functioning arteriovenous fistula in his right wrist, a bracelet and sign in his hospital room were placed to alert staff not to draw blood or check blood pressure on that arm. He alleges on Oct. 2, 2015, blood was drawn from his right arm during the night and caused him to suffer an occluded fistula. The suit states he needed surgeries to correct the issue.

The plaintiff holds Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached a standard of care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in order to compensate him for his injuries and damages and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Michael C. Walker of Cyrus, Adkins & Walker in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
