Patient alleges Akkary Surgery Center failed to properly monitor wound

Medical malpractice 07

MORGANTOWN – A Preston County woman alleges a physician and surgical center failed to monitor and/or care for her open wound.

Cheryl Dulaney filed a complaint in Monongalia Circuit Court against Ehab Akkary MD, doing business as Akkary Surgery Center, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 16, 2015, she underwent abdominolasty with Dr. James Holehouse at Preston Memorial Hospital and was to follow up with Akkary a week later. She alleges her sutures were removed prematurely by an employee of the defendant and that Akkary sent her home with an open wound.

The plaintiff holds Akkary responsible because she allegedly needed ongoing wound care and home health care as a result of the defendant's actions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and general damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, and such other general and specific relief. She is represented by Edmund L. Wagoner and David E. Goddard of Goddard & Wagoner PLLC in Clarksburg.
