HARPERS FERRY –  West Virginia Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Morrisey is calling on Rep. Evan Jenkins "to renounce and apologize for his decades of support for liberal candidates who have harmed West Virginia."

In a release from Morrisey's Senate campaign, spokeswoman Nachama Soloveichik said the list of Jenkins' liberal leanings is long.

* In 2003, Jenkins called for a Democratic governor “who will talk about progressive mainstream issues.”

* In 2004, Jenkins supported John Kerry for president.

* In 2007, Jenkins supported Hillary Clinton and attended her presidential campaign rally in West Virginia.

* In 2007, Jenkins supported and raised money for Joe Manchin.

* For six years, Jenkins supported Barack Obama’s Democratic Party.

“It wasn’t that long ago that Evan Jenkins was a proud member of Barack Obama’s Democratic Party," Soloveichik said. "It’s time for Rep. Jenkins to be honest with West Virginians about his decades-long liberal support. Jenkins has been a liberal, Hillary-supporting Democrat many years longer than he has been a fake Republican.

"How can West Virginians trust him if he won’t even apologize for his years of supporting harmful candidates?"

Jenkins' campaign did not return messages seeking comment.
