WHEELING – A Wheeling doctor is alleged to have failed to inform a patient that a biopsy revealed melanoma.

Mark D. Panepinto and Mindy P. Panepinto filed a complaint in Ohio Circuit Court against Albert Jellen M.D. alleging medical malpractice and negligence.

According to the complaint, Mindy P. Panepinto was treated by Jellen in March 2014, who removed a suspicious mole from her arm for biopsy. She alleges she was told by the defendant that the mole was nonconcerning and she was not provided the written test results from the lab.

Mindy Panepinto later learned in December 2015 that an additional biopsy revealed malignant melanoma present and she required further surgery.

The plaintiffs hold Jellen responsible because the defendant allegedly departed from accepted medical practices in his care of Mindy Panepinto.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for all damages, compensatory damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Mark D. Panepinto in Wheeling.
