MARLINTON – A North Carolina woman alleges she was injured by a nightclub employee during a visit to Snowshoe Mountain.

Dianne Morao filed a complaint Jan. 4 in Pocahontas Circuit Court against Snowshoe Mountain Inc., Contemporary Services Corp., Intrawest Events Marketing Inc., Intrawest Snowshoe Development Inc., Intrawest U.S. Commercial Property Management Inc., Intrawest Resorts Inc., John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 14, 2016, she and a friend were patrons at the Connection Nightclub at Snowshoe Mountain. She alleges she was attempting to escort her intoxicated friend back to Silver Creek Lodge when Doe 2, an employee of Connection Nightclub, grabbed the plaintiff and "violently slammed the left side of her body to the ground." She alleges as a result of the incident, she fractured and dislocated her left elbow and experienced myopathy of extraocular muscles.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly negligently hired and supervised staff at the nightclub.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by James A. Varner Sr. and James N. Riley of McNeer, Highland, McMunn and Varner LC in Clarksburg. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer P. Dent.
