Kay Casto & Chaney adds three attorneys to new Martinsburg office

MARTINSBURG — Kay Casto & Chaney is opening the firm's next chapter in its 95-year history with a new office in Martinsburg.

"We believe that our practices complement well the practices of the other attorneys in the firm, and we look forward to growing the office in a thoughtful way with our primary focus being the service of our clients and the local business community," attorney Tracey A. Rohrbaugh said during a The West Virginia Record email interview.

Rohrbaugh is one of three attorneys recently added to Kay Casto & Chaney's new office in Martinsburg. The other two are Curtis G. Power III and Christopher C. Cox. Rohrbaugh and Power are now Kay Casto & Chaney members, and Cox is an associate.

"Throughout my 23 years of practice in West Virginia, I have come to know Kay Casto & Chaney as a great law firm, with extremely talented attorneys," Rohrbaugh said. "Curtis, Chris and I are very excited and humbled that Kay Casto & Chaney has selected us to pioneer this amazing expansion opportunity."  

The firm is equally pleased to have Rohrbaugh, Power and Cox on board, Michael T. Chaney, attorney and Management Committee member at Kay Casto & Chaney, said in a separate statement to The West Virginia Record

"Tracey, Curtis and Chris are very experienced, highly regarded and successful attorneys," Chaney said. "They bring areas of practice and expertise that will enable our firm to handle the needs of clients in a wider variety of matters. In addition, the expansion of our firm allows us to serve clients in the region more effectively and efficiently."

Kay Casto & Chaney, established in 1923 with other offices in Charleston, Morgantown and Fayetteville, provides legal services in commercial law, litigation, government relations, criminal defense, mediation services and personal law.

Rohrbaugh's practice at Kay Casto & Chaney concentrates on construction law, real property litigation, insurance defense and general civil litigation, including estate litigation and deliberate intent, the press release states. The 1994 West Virginia University College of Law graduate routinely counsels and advises contractors and subcontractors and she has represented clients in state and federal courts, including cases argued before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.

Rohrbaugh is a member of the Board of Governors for the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and is a co-founder and current president of the Eastern Panhandle Bar Charitable Foundation. She also is a member of the Eastern Panhandle Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.

Power's practice at Kay Casto & Chaney concentrates on litigation health care law, insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, professional liability defense, complex litigation and business litigation. The 1980 West Virginia University College of Law graduate is former West Virginia Department of Health assistant attorney general and a former Berkeley County assistant prosecutor.

Power is a member of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, the Defense Research Institute, the Winchester-Frederick County (Virginia) Bar Association and the Eastern Panhandle Bar Association.

Cox's practice at Kay Casto & Chaney concentrates on commercial law and litigation. The 2008 graduate of the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia, has an extensive background in military law, with prior assignments ranging from Vicenza, Italy to the Pentagon, the press release states. The retired Army veteran is a recipient of the Legion of Merit and a Bronze Star and is a member of a number of legal professional organizations and civic groups in Jefferson County.
